I've always been fascinated with my grandma's jewelry ever since I was a child. I remember going into her armoire with my sister and playing dress-up with all of her necklaces and bracelets. My grandma has always been a very fashionable forward woman, who places much of her own personal value on physical beauty. To her, this jewelry is a statement of her worth, objects of prestige and accomplishment. It didn't matter if it was a special occasion, cleaning the house, or running errands, she would always be dressed in her finest clothes and jewelry.

Last semester, I had the opportunity to do an entire series on her and her jewelry for my black and white photography class and was excited to approach this subject in a new way. Using my sister as a model, we both felt a sense of pride being able to exhibit pieces with memories that stretch across multiple generations, many of which will be passed down to us in the future.
